All SP, CP, and FP card printing systems need to be upgraded, allowing you to use new state-of-the-art supplies. New supplies feature a biodegradable core and new RFID tag encoding that result in improved operation, increased efficiency and a lower impact on the environment. You must update your firmware to continue using your Datacard desktop printer before the end of 2011; after 2011 old ribbon supplies will no longer be available. Once you update your current system with the new firmware, you will be able to continue using your old supply of ribbons until they are depleted. What does this mean for my current SP, CP, or FP card printer?
Datacard has updated thie Intelligent Supplies Technology to enhance the supplies' performance. In order for the new supplies to work with existing Datacard desktop printers, you will simply need to update your firmware.
Why do you need this update?
The current RFID tags used in all Datacard Certified Supplies with Intelligent Supplies Technology™, which tell the printer you have the right supplies, are entering their end-of-life/obsolescence phase. New RFID technology is already introduced in the supplies for the new SD and CD Series desktop card printers, and the use of these new tags will continue to be integrated into all other Datacard supply products. The Go Green Upgrade lets you take advantage of more eco-friendly supplies with biodegradable cores, fewer part numbers to inventory, and more reliable supplies management.
What will happen to your old supplies once you update?
Once the firmware is updated, your old printer supplies will continue to work, allowing you to use your existing inventory while receiving the same great print quality. When you are ready to order more supplies, simply contact your IdentiSys sales representative or call 888.437.9783 to order new supplies.
When must you update your firmware?
We highly recommend that you upgrade now as desktop printers must be upgraded before the end of 2011. Current supply inventories have reached end-of-life, and some supplies may need to transition to the new RFID tags before the end of the year. The new firmware enables your printer to use the new supplies.
How do you know if you have new eco-friendly Datacard supplies?
The new supplies are eco-friendly because the plastic core is made with the EcoPure biodegradable additive. New supply boxes display the EcoPure logo.
